About Us

Sierra Leone, a country of about six million people, was a small British colony in West Africa that gained its independence in 1961. Since then it has experienced great instability, ravished by diseases like Ebola, malaria, cholera and trypanosomiasis, and decimated by a decade of brutal civil war in the 1990s.

To help ameliorate such obstacles to development and initiate sustainable advancement, The Magic Penny is committed to supporting local communities in their autonomous efforts to create stable economies and educational opportunities.
